History of Mystifyed Live part 3

History of Mystifyed Live part 3

Yes Here it is, the Third part in the evolution of The Mystifyed Live show. Today's Mystifyer Trivia Question was: "In which month, between September 2010 and Now, did we NOT air any Mystifyed Live Episodes?" The answer is simple this time...November, but here is why and what lead up to that.

So during my 1st show my camera had not worked at all so I didn't appear on camera until episode 2. Well, during Episode 2 I had the camera continually drop the video and we lost audio several times. these problems continued to plaque the show for several more months. However the became more and more problematic as the show continued to develop.

During Episode 3 I was honored to have V, the Founder of The Magic Network, TMN, join me on the show. We also had My producer, Mike Olsen, join in as he is heavily involved with TMN. unfortunately Tech fail reared its ugly head yet again when we had Echo, Echo, Echo,Echo... and the set was not very easy for me to work around for filming. I had to move the camera manually while streaming resulting in ceiling and floor shots along with getting the viewers motion sick.

Now Episode 3 was not a total failure, we did have a great interview with V and several interactive mentalism demonstrations that he performed. We did lots of promoting of TMN and I had the support of many of the TMN members tuning in.

After V's episode we switched to a once a month schedule for Mysityfed Live so we could work out Tech issues in-between. Our next episode was due to air on the first Saturday of November but I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to perform some paranormal magic for Halloween. so despite our new schedule i added an extra show for Sunday October 31 2010. this episode was to be purely performance based scheduled to last 1/2 hour.

Halloween Night came. We started the show almost 20 minutes late because we were unable to get into Ustream, the program we used at the time for our live stream. After the delay we had several camera issues including the camera coming loose from the stand at the end. This resulted in a shorter show exactly 13 minutes and 13 seconds...creepy.

With the special episode over we had only one week to prepare for the next show that coming Saturday. mean while I had deleted Ustream and reloaded it to try to work out the kinks. and as far as the camera stand that got a little bit of Duct Tape. Sounded like we were set but found out that Saturday that the new version of Ustream I downloaded didn't work. We apparently were missing some file on the computer. with no live feed i called it quits and figured that the show was a lost cause due to all the tech issues so I gave it up and therefore there was no show in November.

Stay tuned to find out what turned around the show and allowed it to become what it is today.

History of Mystifyed Live part 2

History of Mystifyed Live part 2

Today's Mystifyer Trivia Question was: "Who was the first Guest to appear on Mystifyed Live." We had two people who were close with their guesses, but not quite but both were kinda of right so here are their answers:
@Mike_Magician: "@TheMystifyer twas @molsen23 wasn't it?"
@PickedHam: "@TheMystifyer was your first guest @taylorkg ?"

But actually The correct answer is my good friend @Seventia.

Here is the breakdown...

On the first episode which aired September 4th 2010, My Webcam died just hours before we went live. So in my place my Executive Producer, Mike Olsen (@molsen23), actually was the only person to appear on camera and stood in my place. He then called me up and had me join him live via Skype so I was only present in voice. (which i suppose makes me a guest on the show too)

While we were doing the live announcement our friend @Seventia had tuned in to watch it and was talking to use on Skype congratulating us. Mike then added @Seventia to the call so she too was live via Skype and we did a short interview with her and promoted her music and posted links to her social media sites for people to follow her.

Thus was born, quite accidentally, the idea of having a guest join us live to promote their works while I used the show to also update the fans about what was going on in my world and entertain them with my magic live.

We jumped on the idea of connecting with more artists and just a short two weeks later we aired the 2nd episode of Mystifyed Live. Just hours before this episode I had bought a HD Webcam and was able to be on camera, so it was the first episode were people got to see me. It was also the first episode where the guest was able to join us live on camera as well. That guest was @TaylorKG who had an episode of the Suite Life on Deck that she was in that was airing soon so we were promoting along with several movies she had been in.

The first two episodes were now over but we did not yet have a name for this show that had just kinda started to happen. That we will save for the next post...part 3. Watch for it coming soon.

History of Mystifyed Live part 1

History of Mystifyed Live part 1

The answer to the #MystifyerTrivia Question: "What Month and what year did the first episode of Mystifyed Live air?" is really a origin story so here it is...

The first time I conceived the idea of including a live web cam feed on the website was July 2009. The original idea was to broadcast street magic as I performed. But I was far from the first episode.

In December of 2009 the old Website was completely redesigned into the current design over the course of one weekend. This new design along with the new features allowing to finally stream live footage on the website. The new design was officially launched March 1st 2010.

Within a few weeks I made my first attempt at a live broadcast...it failed. basically someone for got to hit the button that made it go live. I attempted again one week later still in March of 2010 but this time it aired...badly. The web cam was very poor quality and the wireless signal was weak resulting in a show that looked more like a narrated slide show. After two failed attempts I put off the idea of doing a live feed.

Then in August of 2010 My producer and I decided to resurrect the idea of the live feed to announce publicly that we were going to be working together. We advertised on Twitter and The Magic Network that I was going to be making a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT.

On September 4th 2010 we made our big announcement. The web traffic and site membership soared due to the live announcement. We quickly made plans to start airing live streams from the site on a regular basis. We still didn't have a name yet, We were not sure what direction to take the show but we seemed to have stumbled onto something that captured the attention of the audience. Thus was born the Mystifyed Live show...

Stay tuned for Part two of the History of the Mystifyed Live show.
